This week has seen the start of our festive activities celebrating the Christmas period. The children have been engaging in some wonderful role play with our 'winter wonderlands', building enormous train tracks for the Santa express and building stables with straw, pegs and sticks following on from our Bible Story Time where the children helped recreate a Nativity scene.
The children have had an opportunity to practice their cutting skills and make their own stockings. Also, we have provided lots of resources for supporting mathematical understanding; this included building the Snowmen with buttons following the number on the hat and decorating a Christmas tree with baubles and pom poms and then counting to see how many they use. We worked on our grip by pegging stars and decorations onto the fairy light garlands.
Next week we will be in the party mood with Dazzle, tucking into a yummy Christmas lunch cooked by our fabulous parent helpers and, we are hoping to receive a visit from a very special visitor!
Don't forget it is also 'Christmas Jumper Week' in aid of Save the Children-pay £1 and wear your festive togs to help other children around the world.
