Spring has sprung!

Gong Hei Fat Choy! We returned from our half term break to celebrate The Chinese New Year. We created our own lanterns and made some masks to do a dragon dance. The children enjoyed coin rubbing to put in their lucky envelopes and practised some Chinese writing. We sampled some Chinese snacks and learnt to say Happy New Year in Chinese.

We also had a focus on books, as it was world book day on Thursday. We talked about how they are structured and our favourite stories. We read the story The three little pigs and had a go at building houses from straw, Sticks and bricks! We have been practising our pencil control by colouring, drawing and following a simple maze. We also had a Gruffalo morning, and created a larger cosy story corner to be enjoyed for the week.

We have been given a fabulous mud kitchen which was made as part of a GCSE project. It has been very well received and loved by all the children. It looks great in the playpark. Thank you!

Lots of other activities have included maypole dance practice in preparation for our Easter show, Construction toys, and imaginary play with the farm.

We touched on a bit of rhyming and will continue with this over the coming weeks. Next week we will be investigating signs of spring, hopefully the weather will be fine and we can enjoy some walks outside as part of our observations.
